According to a report by US media Hoops Wire on Friday, the Minnesota Timberwolves are considering the possibility of introducing Kevin Durant.

The Phoenix Suns failed to qualify for the playoffs this year, and it is generally believed that they will send the 36-year-old Durant away in the offseason. The two sides have reached a basic consensus that the Suns will also help Durant find the most suitable destination in his favorite team.

According to ESPN reporter Shams Charania, Durant considered leaving the Suns before the trade deadline in February this year, and expressed interest in the New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat. The Timberwolves also explored the possibility of getting Durant at the time, and the team is expected to continue to promote related transactions during the offseason.

On May 28th, local time, the Timberwolves lost to the Thunder 1-4 in the Western Conference Finals and were eliminated. A source revealed to Hoops Wire that the Timberwolves management believes that a star with leadership qualities should be introduced for Anthony Edwards, and Durant is considered a potential candidate.

However, the Timberwolves' salary cap may be a major obstacle to the deal. Forbes Sports reporter Evan Sideri pointed out that the Timberwolves are currently limited by the contract structure of Julius Randle and Naz Reid, and it is still unknown whether they can pursue Durant with limited space.

Durant played 62 regular season games for the Suns this season, averaging 26.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game, shooting 52.7% from the field and 43.0% from three-point range. He will enter the final year of his contract this summer, when his annual salary will be $54.71 million.
