In the 42nd minute, Kelkes Milos chipped a pass from the left wing into the box, where Jones slotted home to give Liverpool a 1-0 lead.

In the 56th minute of the second half, Salah passed the ball into the penalty area, and Szoboszlai volleyed it into the net, giving Liverpool a 2-0 lead over Brighton. In the 67th minute, Salah was brought down by Pascal Gross while dribbling forward, resulting in a penalty for Liverpool. Salah then converted the penalty, extending Liverpool's lead to 3-0.

Liverpool ultimately defeated Brighton 3-0 at Anfield, advancing to the round of 16.

Liverpool midfielder Jones said, "It was a great game. We scored three fantastic goals and kept a clean sheet, which is the best possible result. To be honest, I've scored more goals before, but my overall performance wasn't always as good. I just want to play well, stay in the squad, and help the team as much as possible. I feel lucky to have so many teammates who can score goals. Of course, it would be even better to score more goals, and I will continue to work hard."

“I am a football player and a midfielder. I want to score goals, provide assists, and help the team. This season obviously hasn't reached the level we expected, but that's football. You can't expect to win every game easily. Other teams are improving, and we are improving too.
