Liverpool confirmed on their official website on Wednesday that Czech international goalkeeper Vítězslav Jaroš has suffered a serious knee injury and has been prematurely ruled out of the rest of the season.

According to Liverpool's official statement, Jaroš, who is currently on-loan at Ajax, injured his knee during training last Friday. Team doctors immediately arranged for scans to examine the scale of the injury.

After several days of testing, the scan results came back, confirming that Jaroš's injury was very serious and required immediate surgery. He is unlikely to recover for the remainder of the season.

Due to his season-ending injury, Jaroš's loan agreement has also been terminated. He is currently receiving treatment at a Dutch hospital with the assistance of de Godenzonen and Liverpool, and has undergone surgery, but remains hospitalized for observation.

This serious injury, which ended his season prematurely, is undoubtedly a huge blow to Jaroš, whose career was just beginning to take off.

This goalkeeper, who dreamed of one day replacing Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili as Liverpool's number one goalkeeper and helping the Reds win the UEFA Champions League, was a regular starter for Ajax during his loan spell.

However, under former head coach Jonny Heitinga, Jaroš was briefly demoted as the team sought to bounce back from a poor form.

But following Heitinga's sacking, Jaroš has regained his starting position under the former's successor, Fred Grim.

About Vítězslav Jaroš

The 24-year-old Jaroš was born on July 23, 2001, in Příbram, Czech Republic. He is 1.90 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Jaroš joined the youth academy of his hometown club Příbram at the age of 7, moved to Slavia Prague's youth academy at 10, and joined Liverpool's renowned Kirkby youth academy in 2017. During this spell, he won the FA Youth Cup once with the club.

In February 2021, Jaroš was loaned-out to St. Patrick's Athletic.

During his loan spell at St. Patrick's Athletic, Jaroš won the FAI Cup.

The following January, Jaroš was loaned-out to Notts County.

In July 2022, Jaroš was loaned-out to Stockport County.

In January 2024, Jaroš was loaned-out to Sturm Graz.

During his time at Sturm Graz, Jaroš helped the club achieve a Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup double.

After his loan spell ended that summer, Jaroš officially became a member of the Liverpool first-team, before completing his Liverpool first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in October in the match against Crystal Palace.

Twenty-five days later, Jaroš started in the FA Cup match against Brandon, delivering a strong performance to help the reigning Premier League champions advance to the next round.

In the summer of 2025, Jaroš was loaned-out to Ajax.

This season, Jaroš made 26 appearances for the Eredivisie giants in all competitions, conceding 42 goals and keeping 5 clean sheets.
