Marseille announced on their official website that the club have signed Netherlands international center midfielder Quinten Timber from Feyenoord.
According to Marseille's official statement, Timber has signed on a long-term four-and-a-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030. He will also wear the number 27 jersey.
Furthermore, according to CBS Sports' resident renowned transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Timber's contract was originally scheduled to expire this summer, thus the Ligue 1 club only paid Feyenoord a transfer fee of €4.5 million to secure the player's signing.
After completing his transfer, Timber, in his first interview with Marseille's official website, said: "I'm very happy to be here. The size of the club itself speaks for itself; it's a very great club with an excellent team and a very good coach. I spoke with the coach, and he gave me a very warm welcome. We will be ready for every game from now on."
"I participated in my first training session yesterday, and the quality was very high. I'm ready to contribute to the team, which is already very good, but I still hope to train with these excellent players and continuously improve myself. I'm an all-around midfielder and I like to score goals, attack and defense. I have a good personality and can help the team."
"Throughout my career, I've played different positions. I can play number 6, number 8, or number 10. Whatever position the coach needs me to play, I'll play."
"I've spoken with the coach, and he explained the team's situation to me. He said he wants to win every competition; we want to win everything. I will motivate my teammates to win; that's my mentality, and it's the mentality of all the players in the team."
With this transfer officially announced, all rumours surrounding Timberl's potential move to Manchester United, Liverpool, RB Leipzig, or Lazio have been dispelled.
