The 16th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season will feature a key match as Chelsea host Everton. In an interview, Maresca stated that the team's recent results will not change the "Blues'" trajectory this season, and he believes the team will be in a favorable position.
After a 0-0 draw away to Bournemouth in the last league match, Chelsea have a record of 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in their last 5 games, and are ranked 5th in the standings with 25 points. Unfortunately, in the earlier Champions League Round 6 match, Chelsea took the lead through a first-half goal by João Pedro, but conceded two goals in the second half, ultimately losing 1-2 to Atalanta.
Chelsea manager Maresca said, "November was fantastic, both in terms of performance and results. But December didn't start as we hoped, even though it's only been a little over a week since the game against Leeds United. We didn't get the results we expected, but that's football, and that's perfectly normal."
“We’ve spent most of our time looking for problems or thinking about where to solve them, but that game against Leeds United was last week, which was nine days ago. Just nine days won’t change the course of the whole season just because we didn’t get the points we expected. I’m very relaxed now because I’m sure we’ll be where we should be by the end of the season.”
Maresca also stated, "We drew away to Bournemouth, and the away game against Leeds United was a bad day for everyone. In the subsequent game against Atalanta, we took the lead at one point and were generally doing well, but we conceded a goal while they only had one player in their penalty area, and we had seven players. This was a major mistake and something we must improve upon."
"It's only been a week, not a long time, but what's certain is that we'll be better prepared when a similar situation happens again. As ordinary people, it's impossible to maintain the same level for the entire season, but we need to learn from this and avoid repeating the same mistakes in the future."
