RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško rejects Newcastle United and is on the verge of joining Manchester United..

The Athletic's resident renowned English transfer journalist, David Ornstein, exclusively reported Thursday that RB Leipzig's Slovenia international forward Benjamin Šeško has rejected Newcastle United and is on the verge of joining Manchester United.

According to Ornstein, despite Newcastle United making two offers to Leipzig, one of which was raised to €90 million, and offering the player higher wages, Šeško ultimately decided to reject the Magpies.

Šeško and his team believe in Manchester United's long-term plan more than Newcastle's, and therefore, despite the Red Devils failing to qualify for European competition this season, the player is still willing to join Manchester United.

Ornstein also revealed that Manchester United's previous massive layoffs, which resulted in significant savings, made the transfer possible.

The Premier League giants will pay Leipzig a transfer fee of €75 million to sign Šeško, not including a €10 million potential add-ons.

Leipzig has approved Šeško and his agent to fly to Manchester for a medical and complete the signing procedures.

In addition, Ornstein revealed that after failing to sign Hugo Ekitike and Šeško, Newcastle may be forced to shift their focus to acquiring players from the domestic market.

It is reported that the Magpies have decided to explore a deal for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea has decided not to reject an offer for Jackson, but Newcastle has not yet formally initiated any negotiations.
