During halftime of their game against the Orlando Magic, the Charlotte Hornets officially raised Dell Curry's number 30 jersey to the arena's dome.

As the Hornets' first rookie since the team's expansion in 1988, Curry's jersey will forever hang in the Charlotte rafters as a tribute to this legendary figure who has dedicated a decade to the team.

Although he had learned of the news two months prior, the 61-year-old Curry still couldn't hold back his tears of emotion when the number 30 jersey was actually raised. His family, including his sons Stephen Curry and Seth Curry, who also play in the NBA, as well as many team executives and relatives and friends, were all present to witness this glorious moment.

In his acceptance speech, Curry displayed his characteristic humility and emotion: "I can't thank everyone enough. Man, I'm just a country boy from Grotos, Virginia."

"I play basketball purely out of love, and now that my jersey is hanging on the ceiling, I really can't express how grateful and lucky I am at this moment."

Speaking about the weight of this honor, Curry admitted in an interview before the ceremony: "It wasn't until last night, during a quiet and warm family dinner, that I truly understood the significance of this. This is a big deal, and I know how important it is."

Curry dedicated 10 of his 16-year career to the Hornets, and was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 1994. To this day, he still holds the Hornets' franchise record for most games played (701).

Facing the cheering fans, Curry expressed his heartfelt gratitude: "When I was just a 24-year-old kid, you accepted and embraced me. Since then, you have always supported me and my family."

In a statement, Hornets management called Curry the best embodiment of the Hornets' DNA. Retiring his number 30 jersey is not only a recognition of his outstanding contributions on the court, but also the highest tribute to this legendary figure's deep bond with the city over the past four decades.
