Galatasaray announced on its official website on Thursday that Bayern Munich's Germany international winger Leroy Sané has joined the club as a free agent after his contract expired.

According to the Turkish Süper Lig champions' official statement, Sané has signed on a three-year contract with the club which runs until the summer of 2028. At the same time, he will also wear the No. 10 jersey which was vacated after former Belgium legendary international striker Dries Mertens had left the club. Sané will officially join Galatasaray on July 1 after participating in the FIFA Club World Cup with Bayern.

With this transfer, it means that the rumours claiming that Sané will join Liverpool or Arsenal will also be shattered.

The 29-year-old Leroy Sané was born in Essen, Germany on January 11, 1996. He is 1.83 meters tall and primarily plays as a right winger. He can also play as a left winger or an attacking midfielder. He has nationalities of Germany, France and Senegal.

Sané joined the youth academy of non-league club Wattenscheid at the age of 5. In 2005, he joined the youth academy of Schalke 04. He moved to the youth academy of Bayer Leverkusen three years later and returned to the Schalke 04 youth academy in 2011. He then made his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute at the end of April 2014.

With his outstanding performances, Sané joined Manchester City in August 2016 for £46.5 million.

During his three-and-a-half-year spell with the Cityzens, Sané led the club to win the Premier League twice, the English League Cup three times, the English FA Cup once and the English Community Shield twice.

In July 2020, Sané moved to Bayern Munich for €60 million and became the replacement for former French legendary international star Franck Ribery.

During his five-year spell at Bayern, Sané has made a total of 220 appearances for Die Roten across all competitions, scoring 61 goals and assisting 55 times, where he has led the club to win the Bundesliga four times, the DFL-Super Cup twice, the UEFA Super Cup once and the FIFA Club World Cup once
