Benfica defeated Bayern Munich by 1-0 on matchday 3 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Group C Group Stage match at the Bank of America Stadium on Tuesday.

In the first half, Schjelderup volleyed into the net. In the second half, Kimmich's goal from a long-range shot was ruled out, and Laimer's close-range volley hit the post. At the critical moment, Sané's strike after a solo effort was spectacularly saved. In the end, Benfica defeated Bayern Munich 1-0. Andreas Schjelderup quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net with his right foot from the center of the box. Benfica broke the deadlock early to take a 1-0 lead!

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 51st minute, Bayern made a quick counterattack. Joshua Kimmich made a long pass from his own back half. After successfully beating the offside trap, Leroy Sané quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before taking a long shot with his left foot from outside the penalty area against the outrushing Anatoliy Trubin but his shot was blocked by the latter's outstretched legs.

5 minutes later, Leandro Barreiro passes horizontally from the right wing. Kerem Aktürkoğlu quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his right foot from the right side of the box, but his shot was blocked by Neuer's outstretched legs.

Kimmich quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before striking the ball into the bottom right corner with his left foot from the edge of the penalty area through a long shot. However, the linesman immediately raised his flag to indicate that Harry Kane was caught in a offside position first, thus the goal was ruled out!

After picking up the loose ball, Aleksandar Pavlović shoveled the ball with his left foot at a very close distance in the box, but his shot was blocked by Neuer's outstretched legs.

In the 87th minute, Kane made a through pass from the midfield center circle. After successfully beating the offside trap, Sané quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the center of the box before pushing the ball with his left foot against the outrushing Trubin, but his shot was saved by the latter. Bayern missed the golden opportunity to equalize and force Benfica into a late draw!
