Union Berlin issued a statement on Wednesday announcing the contract extension with 20-year-old German defensive midfielder Ayosha Kemling. As usual, the club did not disclose the contract term and specific details.
Ayosha Kemling came from the Berlin United youth training and made his debut for the first team in the Bundesliga on August 20, 2023. So far, he has played 1 Champions League, 17 Bundesliga games and 2 German Cup games for Berlin United as a main player, contributing 1 goal.
Kemling also played for St. Pauli on loan for half a season. From the beginning of 2024 to June, he made 18 appearances for St. Pauli, provided 2 assists, and was promoted to the Bundesliga as the champion.
In February this year, Kemling was ruled out for the season ahead of schedule due to a foot injury. Despite this, Union Berlin is still confident in Kemling and believes that he will be able to continue his previous performance after his return from injury. After completing the contract extension, Horst Hert, the club's head of professional football, explained: "We have been with Ayosha since his youth training and are well aware of his great potential. He is very capable and has proven his understanding of the game and personal style in the top leagues. However, Ayosha is still making continuous progress, so we believe that he will play an even more crucial role for the team in the coming years."
Kemlin said: "Berlin United is my club, where I grew up and took the first step in my professional career. I am full of motivation for the new season and eager to further improve myself and contribute to the team on the green field."
“It means a lot to me to help the club achieve its goals, to grow with the team and to continue moving forward with Union Berlin. I can’t wait to get back on the pitch,” he concluded.
