FA Cup – Salah scores as Liverpool beat Brighton 3-0


In another key match of the fourth round of the 2025/26 FA Cup, Liverpool, playing at Anfield, defeated Brighton 3-0 thanks to goals from Jones, Szoboszlai and Salah.


Ten minutes into the match, Brighton launched an attack. Kadioglu received the ball and unleashed a long-range shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson. Shortly after, Liverpool striker Salah received a pass and shot from inside the penalty area, but his effort was also blocked.


In the 15th minute, Wirtz was brought down by Brighton defender Dunk while attempting a breakthrough, and the referee showed Dunk a yellow card. Liverpool then won a free kick, which Salah took directly, but the ball went wide of the post. In the 23rd minute, Szoboszlai passed the ball diagonally, and Gakpo received it and shot, but the ball was cleared.

In the 67th minute, Salah was brought down by Pascal Gross while dribbling forward, and the referee awarded Liverpool a penalty. Salah then converted the penalty, extending Liverpool's lead to 3-0. In the 74th minute, Kadioglu received a pass back from his teammate and took a long-range shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went over the goal.


In the 80th minute, Gakpo made a diagonal pass, and Ngumoha received the ball and curled a shot into the net, but the referee ruled it offside, so the goal was disallowed.


Liverpool ultimately defeated Brighton 3-0 at home, advancing to the round of 16.
