Reece James stated that despite Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Brentford, the team is still far from its ideal form. However, he emphasized that as the players gradually adapt to the tactical requirements of new manager Liam Rossinier, there is still significant room for improvement.  

Facing one of the Premier League's in-form rivals, this match was challenging from the start. Chelsea struggled to break down Brentford's solid and tenacious defense, but ultimately secured the victory through overall superiority. João Pedro opened the scoring, followed by a penalty from Cole Palmer to seal the win.  

Chelsea captain Reece James is keenly aware of the significance of this victory, which narrows the gap between the team and the Champions League qualification zone to just two points. He believes that given the limited time the players have to adapt to Liam Rossenier's tactical system, there is still room for improvement in the team's performance.  

Reece James said: "We know we have to win at home, and this game may not have been our best. But if you want to go further, you have to be able to win even when you're not at your best."  

“We haven’t actually spent much time with this head coach; some of us have only had a few lessons with him. Everyone is trying their best to learn his ideas and play the football he wants in the shortest amount of time. Things take time, and every coach has a different approach. The schedule is very tight right now, with a game every two or three days, so there aren’t many training opportunities. We can only do our best to prepare.”  

In the match against Brentford, Liam Rosenho used all of his substitutions. With the season entering its second half, Reece James believes the entire team will play a crucial role in the final stretch.  

He added, "The season is far from over. It's only January, and we have many games and events to play. We will definitely give it our all. The schedule is really packed, with more and more games and increasing intensity every season. This is probably one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world, and everyone in the team has to persevere until the end of the season."
