According to NBA insider Marc Stein on Friday, the Golden State Warriors are still actively seeking opportunities to trade Jonathan Cuminga. They are considering sending Cuminga to the Miami Heat in exchange for former player Andrew Wiggins.
Since requesting a trade on January 15, Kuminga has remained steadfast in his stance of leaving the team before February 5. Affected by injuries and multiple DNPs, he has only played 19 regular season games this season, averaging 12.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 24.6 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 44.5% and a three-point percentage of 32.1%.
Since the Heat were reported by the media as one of the teams that might acquire Kuminga through a sign-and-trade during the 2025 offseason, Stein believes the possibility of the two sides engaging in discussions still exists. The Heat's most attractive asset to the Warriors is arguably 30-year-old small forward Andrew Wiggins.
Andrew Wiggins, the number one overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, and Miami Heat throughout his career. He played five and a half seasons in the NBA with the Warriors, appearing in 307 games and averaging 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 31.0 minutes per game. In 2022, he was selected to his first All-Star game and won an NBA championship with the team.
In February 2025, Wiggins was traded from the Warriors to the Heat in a deal involving Jimmy Butler. To date, he has played 58 regular season games for the Heat, averaging 16.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 31.7 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 46.7% and a three-point percentage of 38.5%.
