The San Antonio Spurs officially announced on Sunday that they have signed Stanley Ulmud to a two-way contract. To make room for Ulmud, they also confirmed the release of 26-year-old guard Kyle Mangas.

Since signing a two-way contract in early December, Mangas has yet to play a single regular season game for the Spurs. However, he has played 11 games for the Spurs' G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs, averaging 16.5 points and 5.0 assists per game.

The 26-year-old Umuh is a 6'6" shooting guard who entered the NBA in 2022 as an undrafted free agent. So far this season, he has played 11 G League games for the Austin Spurs, averaging 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 steals in 35.8 minutes per game.

Besides the Austin Spurs, Umude also played for Motorcycle City Cruisers and the Wisconsin Bucks. To date, he has played 57 games in the G League, averaging 16.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

Umud also played 47 regular season games for the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 3.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 8.4 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 37.8% and a three-point percentage of 39.1%.

Ahead of Sunday's game against the Wizards, Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson spoke highly of Umuh: "He performed exceptionally well in training camp. The reason he didn't get a two-way contract at the beginning of the season was probably just due to roster restrictions. He helped us. His attitude is very positive. His playing time has been somewhat intermittent due to an ankle injury at the beginning of the season. However, he has performed exceptionally well in the G League so far this season. It's great to be able to give him this opportunity."

Umuh is expected to play the remainder of the season with the Spurs, potentially up to 32 regular-season games. According to Tom Osborne of the San Antonio Express-News, he will return to free agency next summer after his contract expires.
