Liverpool players and staff arrived and attended Diogo Jota and André Silva's wake..

CNN exclusively reported on Friday that Liverpool players and staff had arrived at a local church in Gondomar to attend the wake of forward Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who tragically were killed in a car accident in Spain a few days ago.

Among them, the management team, CEO Billy Hogan, Michael Edwards, Sporting Director Richard Hughes and Technical Director Julian Ward were the first to arrive and assist in the funeral arrangements.

Then, two of the club's former players, Fabinho and Thiago Alcântara, also arrived at the church with wreaths.

Thiago Alcântara and his wife had a conversation with Jota's parents, during which the deceased's mother cried several times. It was really pitiful.

In the afternoon, Uruguay international forward Darwin Núñez, who had cut his hair very short, also entered the mourning hall with a heavyheartedly accompanied by his wife to mourn.

At around 10:30 p.m. local time, Hogan once again led Liverpool players including captain Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Conor Bradley, Federico Chiesa, Curtis Jones, head coach Arne Slot and assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff into the funeral hall to attend the wake.

Among them, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who had left the club to join Brentford this summer, former vice-captain James Milner also accompanied the delegation.

Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konaté were unable to attend because they were Muslims, and goalkeeper Alisson was unable to accompany the delegationdue to personal reasons.

New signings Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Freddy Woodman and Georgi Mamardashvili were not arranged to accompany the delegation.

On the other hand, former captain Jordan Henderson personally returned to Anfield to write a message and sign in the physical condolence book and presented flowers in the memorial area, and then attended the vigil ceremony with the team in the evening.

Former England goalkeeper Chris Kirkland presented a wreath to Jota on behalf of the Liverpool Foundation.

It is worth mentioning that shortly after Henderson left, Everton also commissioned its club legend Ian Snodin and two Portuguese players in the team, Beto and Youssef Chermiti, to present a wreath on behalf of the Toffees.

Members of Liverpool official fan organizations around the world, such as This is Anfield and Redmen TV, also took time to go to Anfield to mourn Jota and André. Currently, thousands of flowers, jerseys, cloth strips, cards, dolls and other offerings from fans from all over the world have been gathered at the scene.

The report also added that in addition to Liverpool players and staff, many of Jota's former teammates and legends from the Portugal national team, such as João Moutinho, Bernardo Silva, and João Pinto, also attended his funeral.

Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro and President Marcelo Rebeldo also visited the deceased's family after the Parliamentary Congress ended.

According to the Liverpool ECHO, the funeral hall was not only open to Jota and André's former teammates, relatives, friends, and family, but also to the fans and the public for a period of time to allow them to enter and pay their respects to the deceased. In order to prevent the image of the bodies from being leaked and to protect privacy, all forms of photography were prohibited in the funeral hall, and reporters were only allowed to interview in the media area outside the church.

Liverpool has also taken the initiative to terminate Jota's contract and will pay his family according to the amounts of his annual wages, bonuses, benefits, bereavement money and others.
