Strasbourg announced on Wednesday that Maximilian Oyedli has joined from Legia Warsaw on a five-year contract until June 30, 2030.
Maxi Oyedli, 20, was born in Salford, England, and has Nigerian and Polish ancestry. He joined Manchester United's youth training from Burnley at the age of 8, but has never been able to get a chance to play in the first team.
In August 2024, Oyedli joined the Warsaw Legion as a free agent. He mainly played as a defensive midfielder for the Warsaw Legion. So far, he has made 24 appearances, provided 1 assist, and won 1 Polish Cup with the team.
As for the national team, Oyedli has been playing for Poland since October 2024 and has made 2 appearances so far.
Thanks to his outstanding performance last season, Oyedli's transfer value soared from the original 300,000 euros to 4 million euros. Strasbourg finally completed the signing with 6 million euros, of which 40% of the transfer proceeds will belong to Manchester United.
Strasbourg's average age is currently 22.1 years old, making it the youngest team in the top five European leagues. They ranked seventh in Ligue 1 last season with 16 wins, 9 draws and 57 points, thus qualifying for the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
