Former Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, and England legend David Beckham, announced on Monday that he is closing down his British esports club, Guild.

In a statement released on Guild's official website, Beckham stated that due to financial difficulties and the current economic downturn, he was no longer able to continue running the club. After much deliberation, he was forced to make the decision to close down Guild.

From the first day he became Guild's shareholder, the club's goal was to build a top esports team that represents the pride of Britain. Everyone is deeply disappointed and saddened by the club's demise.

While Guild's disbandment has became a fact, he expressed his gratitude to the sponsors, investors, business partners, and fans who have supported the club throughout its journey. He also thanked all the players who have played for the club and have made a special and significant mark on the history of Guild, British, and international esports.

At this time, foreign media outlets remain unsure about the future of its PUBG team.

It's worth noting that two weeks ago, Esports Insider had already reported that Guild might be closing down due to financial problems.

Guild is a British professional esports club founded in 2020. It's known for having David Beckham, Sky Sports, and Subway as investors. They were also the first British professional esports club to be listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Over the past five years, Guild has ran teams in various esports projects, primarily focusing on EA FC, Fortnite, Valorant, and Apex Legends.

Previously, Guild also had a Counter Strike 2 division, but due to poor performance, the team was disbanded in May of this year.
