Grateful for the support he received during his injury, Kyrie Irving said he will patiently wait for his recovery.

Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving recently shared his experience dealing with injuries in an interview. He expressed his gratitude to other injured players for encouraging each other during this period and said he would rest patiently.

Kyrie Irving, 33, suffered a torn cruciate ligament in a game against the Sacramento Kings, so he only played in 50 games for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024/25 NBA regular season, averaging 23.7 points per game, 47.3% shooting and 40.1% three-point shooting.

Notably, stars like Jayson Tatum, Tyrese Haliburton, and Damian Lillard are also struggling to recover from more serious injuries.

Kyrie Irving said, "The emotional ups and downs are really big. Some days I feel that the progress is good, but sometimes I can't push myself. But it's actually a good journey. I have established connections with other players who have experienced ACL tears or serious injuries. Many stars have fallen this year, and we are all praying for each other and sharing the progress of recovery."

"The best advice I've ever received is to be patient because there's no perfect recovery timeline. So don't compare yourself to other people and just enjoy the journey, and that's what I've been doing."

In addition, Kyrie Irving also said, "At the beginning, I really didn't want to look back at the scene of the injury. That heartbroken feeling accompanied me for about a week. After the injury, I felt the pressure getting bigger and bigger, and I would think about the contract year, the value and the negotiation issues."

Talking about the previous contract extension, Kyrie Irving said, "This is natural. Of course, the outside world can discuss the contract numbers, but I am still grateful. Our lineup has become deeper, and I don’t mind making sacrifices. Sometimes you have to give up something so that you can build a better team to compete for the championship."
