◤Premier League◢ Chemsdine Talbi's late strike helps Sunderland stun Chelsea with a shock away 1-2 win..


Sunderland shocked Chelsea with a 1-2 away win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday on matchday 9 of the 2025/26 Premier League season.


In the first half, Garnacho scored from a difficult angle, and Isidor's close-range half-volley found the net. In the second half, Talbi volleyed home a late crucial goal. Ultimately, Sunderland pulled off a 2-1 surprise victory over Chelsea. After this round of matches, the Black Cats, demonstrating their dark horse qualities, moved up to second place on table with 17 points, just two behind leaders Arsenal. The Blues are currently in eighth place with 14 points.


First Half


In just the first minute of the match, Bertrand Traoré crossed into the box from the right wing. Dan Ballard quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, attempted with a header in the box, however his effort was saved by Robert Sánchez.


3 minutes later, Chelsea launched a deadly quick counterattack. Pedro Neto made a low diagonal through pass from the midfield center circle. After successfully beating the offside trap, Alejandro Garnacho quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the left side of the box before volleying the ball from a difficult angle into the bottom right corner of the net with his left foot. Chelsea broke the deadlock early to take a 0-1 lead! This is the Argentina international winger's first goal for the Blues!


In the 22nd minute, Sunderland launched a deadly quick counterattack. Nordi Mukiele sent a long throw-in into the box. Traoré headed the ball across. Wilson Isidor quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, half-volleyed the ball into the high center of the net from a very close distance with his right foot. Sunderland equalized Chelsea at 1-1! This is the French striker's fourth Premier League goal of the season!


In the 40th minute, Chelsea won a corner kick. Reece James took the corner by crossing it into the box, Enzo Fernandez the ball headed across Garnacho quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, striked the ball with his right foot from a very close distance in the box, but his shot was blocked off the goal line by Robin Roefs.


Four minutes later, Moises Caicedo passes horizontally from the front. After adjusting his angle, Trevoh Chalobah, took a right-footed long-shot with his right foot from outside the penalty area, but his shot was saved by Roefs.


At the end of the first half, Chelsea and Sunderland were temporarily tied at 1-1 going into the break.


Second Half


Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 60th minute, Marc Cucurella crossed into the box from the edge of the byline at the left wing. Estêvão quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before volleying with his left foot from the center of the box, but his shot was blocked by Lutsharel Geertruida.


14 minutes later, Enzo Le Fée made a long pass from his own back half. After successfully beating the offside trap, Granit Xhaka quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled and cuts into the center of the box before volleying with his right-foot, but his shot was blocked by Josh Acheampong.

In the third minute of injury time, Brian Brobbey passes horizontally from the right side of the box, Chemsdine Talbi quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net with his right foot. Sunderland overtook Chelsea by 1-2 and sealed the victory!


When the final whistle is blown, Sunderland shocked Chelsea with a 1-2 away win.
