American League of Legends powerhouse FlyQuest, announced Thursday through its official X (Twitter) account that its top laner, Bwipo, has been suspended effective immediately for making sexist comments during a recent livestream.

According to FlyQuest's official statement, the organization added the all-female team, RED, out of a commitment to gender equality and encouraging women to bravely pursue their dreams in professional esports. However, Bwipo's actions contradict the team's values and ideals.

To help Bwipo learn an important lesson, the organization has decided to suspend him from competitive play until the conclusion of the LTA Championship Playoffs which will be commencing on this weekend, hoping he will reflect on his disgusting comments.

In addition, Bwipo's prize money will be donated to a foundation to support the development of women's esports.

Subsequently, Bwipo apologized through his official X account, acknowledging that his remarks were deeply disrespectful to all women, including those close to him.

Bwipo also deeply regrets not using his channels to spread positivity, but instead exacerbating discrimination against women through his actions. He will seriously reflect on his mistakes and listen to advice to improve.

Recently, during a livestream on his Twitch channel, Bwipo blurted out, "Women shouldn't be allowed to participate in esports because they have periods, which taints the game". His remarks immediately drew widespread criticism from netizens around the world.

FlyQuest also became the second American esports organization, following the rising Counter Strike 2 team Chicken Coop, to be exposed this week for its players engaging in disrespectful behaviour towards women.

About Bwipo

Bwipo, 26, was born in Belgium on December 24, 1998, and holds dual Belgian and Brazilian citizenship. He began playing professional League of Legends in 2016, primarily as a top laner, but also as a jungler or bot laner.

Bwipo played for Sector One, Dark Passage, RoX, and nDurance in his early years before joining the established European esports powerhouse Fnatic (FNC) in 2018.

During his three-year-and-ten-month spell with FNC, Bwipo helped the team win the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the League of Legends World Championship, as well as leading the team to runner-up finishes in multiple LEC tournaments, earning him three All-Pro selections to the 3rd Team.

In November 2021, Bwipo joined Liquid.

During his two-year spell with Liquid, Bwipo was again selected to the All-Pro 3rd Team twice for his outstanding performances in the LCS Spring and Summer Splits.

At the end of November 2023, Bwipo joined FlyQuest.

Since joining FlyQuest, Bwipo has helped the team win the LTA North Split 2 this year, was named MVP of the tournament, and won the championship at the just-concluded Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) last Sunday.
