Former NBA sharpshooter Gallinari announced his retirement at the age of 37.

Italian basketball legend and former NBA forward Danilo Gallinari officially announced his retirement on Tuesday, ending his 21-year professional career. He released a statement on his personal social media account, which reads as follows:

"Today, with a grateful heart, I announce the end of the career I've always dreamed of. It has been an unparalleled journey, filled with countless memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you all."

Gallinari, 37, began his professional career in 2004, spending his first four years with domestic teams such as Casalpustello and Olimpia Milano. After being selected 6th overall in the first round of the NBA draft by the New York Knicks in 2008, he played in the NBA for 16 years, missing two seasons due to a torn ACL.

Besides the Knicks, Gallinari also played for the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, and Milwaukee Bucks. Statistically, he played 777 regular season games, averaging 14.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, with a 42.8% field goal percentage and a 38.1% three-point percentage.

Gallinari also played 51 playoff games for various teams, averaging 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 39.6% and a three-point percentage of 33.8%.

In January 2025, Gallinari officially retired from the NBA. He signed with the Paamon Bulls in the Puerto Rican league and led the team to a championship as Finals MVP. Afterward, Gallinari represented the Italian national team in the EuroBasket, completing the final dance of his professional career.
