Warriors official statement: Kuminga, Melton, and Santos have been recalled from the G League.

The Golden State Warriors officially announced on Wednesday that they have recalled Jonathan Cuminga, De'Anthony Melton, and Gi Santos from their G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Earlier that day, the Warriors had sent three players down to the G League for training. ESPN reporter Anthony Slater stated at the time that this move did not mean the Warriors were permanently abandoning players like Kuminga, but rather that they hoped to use real games to help the players regain their form. According to the original plan, the three would return to the team immediately after completing the scrimmage.

Kuminga's recovery progress

Of the three players, Kuminga's recovery progress has attracted the most attention. The 23-year-old missed the last seven regular season games due to patellar tendinitis in both knees. So far this season, he has played a total of 13 games, averaging 13.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 27.7 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 47.8% and a three-point percentage of 32.4%.

Sources revealed that Kuminga's MRI showed no structural damage to his knee, but he had been complaining of discomfort for the past two weeks. The Warriors had hoped he could participate in contact drills on Sunday, but he was ultimately unable to do so.

According to the latest news, Cuminga participated in approximately 15 minutes of 5-on-5 scrimmages in Santa Cruz. He is expected to fully participate in team practice on Friday, at which point the Warriors will decide his availability for Saturday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans based on his performance.

Other players' situations

Melton, 27, has been in rehabilitation since undergoing surgery to repair his left anterior cruciate ligament late last year and has not yet played for the Warriors this season. Before his injury, he played six regular season games for the Warriors, averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.4 steals in 20.2 minutes per game.

As for the 23-year-old Santos, he has only played 14 games this season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per game.
