Everton have signed goalkeeper Mark Travers on a four-year contract until June 2029 for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old Irish international has played for Bournemouth since 2016 and spent nine seasons there.
Mark Travers played 82 games for Bournemouth and was loaned to Weymouth, Swindon Town, Stoke City and Middlesbrough. In the second half of the 2024-25 Championship season, he served as the main goalkeeper for Middlesbrough, played 20 league games, and provided a stable defense for the team.
In addition to club-level games, the goalkeeper, who was born in Maynooth, Leinster, Ireland, has also represented the Irish national team since September 2019 and has made four international A-level appearances to date.
Mark Travers told Everton TV after signing: "I am extremely proud and excited to join Everton. When I joined this club, I immediately felt its history and extraordinary tradition."
“Whether it is the deep fan base, the new stadium that is about to open, or the clear development blueprint of the club, people can truly feel the potential and ambition here. Being able to start a new chapter of my career here is a brand new beginning for me.”
“I’m excited to join a club of this size and influence and I can’t wait to get started.”
Speaking about the prospect of joining Everton's goalkeeping squad, Mark Travers said: "Jordan Pickford is a top goalkeeper for the club and the England national team. I look forward to competing actively with everyone in the team and proving myself here as a Premier League player."
“It means a lot to be in this environment. In daily training, we motivate each other and improve together. No matter what happens on match day, we always support each other and try to make the most of every opportunity.”
“It’s always exciting to be part of a new team and help the young players grow. I will give my all and will be proud of my actions both on and off the pitch and be proud to wear the shirt of this club.”
Head coach David Moyes said: "We are delighted to welcome Mark Travers to Everton. Following the departures of Aalsmir and Joao this summer, we have been looking for an experienced goalkeeper to strengthen the goalkeeping position and provide strong support to Jordan. At present, we are also continuing to work hard to further strengthen the squad before the start of the season."
