Manchester City announced on its official website on Saturday that the club has extended the contract of its England U21s international midfielder wonderkid Nico O'Reilly.

According to Manchester City's official statement, O'Reilly has signed on a new long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030.

After completing his contract extension procedures, O'Reilly, who was interviewed by Manchester City's official website again, said: "This is a day I'll never forget. I've been at Manchester City since I was eight years old, and to be able to play in the first team is a dream come true. To have received a new contract is truly special."

"I'm really proud, and so is my mum! She's sacrificed so much to get me to where I am today, so I'm just as happy for her as I am for myself."

"But honestly, this is just the beginning for me. I've come so far, but I want to keep working hard, improving every day, and becoming the best version of myself." At Manchester City, under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, I know I can do it. This is the best place for a football player.

"I want to thank everyone in the youth system, all my teammates, Pep, the coaching staff, and the Manchester City fans, because without the support of everyone along the way, I wouldn't be where I am today."

About Nico O'Reilly

O'Reilly, 20, was born on March 21, 2005, in Manchester City, England. He is 1.94 meters tall and primarily plays as a central midfielder, but can also play as an attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder, or left-wing back. He holds dual British and Jamaican citizenship.

O'Reilly has been a part of Manchester City's youth academy since the age of eight and completed his Manchester City first-team debut in the Community Shield match against local rivals Manchester United in August 2024.

Since his debut, O'Reilly has played 28 times for the Premier League giants in all competitions, scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists. During which he has won the Community Shield once and reached the English FA Cup final once with the club.
