Michael Porter Jr., 27, was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Brooklyn Nets in July of this year. The small forward recently said in a podcast that he is looking forward to exploring his abilities with the Brooklyn Nets in the new season and hopes to get more opportunities to control the ball.
In the 2024/25 NBA regular season, Michael Porter Jr. played 77 games for the Denver Nuggets, averaging 18.2 points per game, 50.4% shooting and 39.5% three-point shooting.
Michael Porter Jr. said, "When you are on a championship-caliber team, you naturally have a lot of outstanding players on the team, and someone has to make some sacrifices. When Aaron Gordon came from the Orlando Magic to the Denver Nuggets, he was the No. 1 option in Orlando, but he might only be the No. 4 option in Denver."
"So when we have so many great players, everyone needs to find their own position and role so that we can make the team as strong as possible."
Regarding his goals for next season, Michael Porter Jr. said, “Our team will not have a player like Jokic who can control the ball and make decisions on every offense. Therefore, I will have more opportunities to hold the ball, need to make more offenses, and take more difficult shots.”
"But it's been a blessing to play with Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and other teammates. But now being able to be the core of the team and explore my own abilities in the game will be very interesting."
