Valencia announced on its official website on Monday that the club has signed Spanish defender José Copete from Mallorca.

According to Valencia's official statement, Copete has on signed a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.

After completing his signing procedures, Copete, who was interviewed by the Valencia official website for the first time, said: "Excited is the best word to describe this moment. I'm really looking forward to starting a new life with my teammates and the coaching staff, and I'm passionate about this new project."

"Two things were particularly important. When Valencia called me, I prioritized them. From the moment I learned of their interest, I had no hesitation in joining; I simply wanted to be here."

"The trust and desire they showed in me from the very beginning meant a lot to me. As players, we like to feel valued and have that sense of belonging."

About José Copete

Copete, 25, was born on October 10, 1999, in Écija, Spain. He is 1.92 meters tall and plays as a center back.

Copete joined the youth academy of his hometown club, Écija, at a young age. He completed his Écija first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in March 2016 at the age of 16.

In January 2018, Copete joined Córdoba on a free transfer, but later that summer he joined Villarreal.

In July 2019, Copete was loaned-out to non-league club Peña Deportiva.

The following summer, upon returning from his loan spell, Copete began playing for Villarreal's B team.

In the summer of 2021, Copete joined Ponferradina on a free transfer.

The following June, Copete joined Mallorca on a free transfer.

During his three-year spell at Mallorca, Copete made 85 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
