Kerr: I am not in a rush to renew my contract and will decide on my future after the season.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Tuesday he wants to wait until after the 2025-26 season before deciding whether to stay.

Since coaching the Golden State Warriors in 2014, the 60-year-old Kerr has led the team to four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022) and an impressive record of 567 wins and 308 losses. He just signed a two-year, $35 million contract extension with the Warriors last April, valid until the end of the 2025-26 season.

With only one year remaining on his contract, Kerr remained calm. He told reporters, "I'm comfortable going into this season with only one year left on my contract. I'm on the same page with (Warriors general manager) Mike Dunleavy and (Warriors owner) Joe Lacob. We've already discussed the extension—there's no need to discuss it further, and there's no need to worry. We've reached a unique point in our partnership, and we'll see what happens at the end of the season."

"I love my job, I love what I do every day. I can't wait to get back in the gym. Hopefully, I can coach the Warriors for a few more years. But I think it's best for the team and for me personally to wait until the end of the season to evaluate the situation — both the overall state of the team and my own situation. Hopefully, we can move forward with the players we have now, and that would be great. I prefer that we decide the future at our own pace."

As for contract talks, Kerr said: "I don't anticipate any negotiations during the season. Who knows - maybe it will be brought up at some point and they might come to me. I have no concerns about it and I don't think about it. I just think waiting is the most reasonable option for all of us."

Kerr concluded: "No matter how it ends, everything will be done with quality and in the right way. If fate assigns me to continue coaching, I will stick with it. If fate determines that the team must change coaches, I will only be grateful and respectful. It will make everyone feel easier. Let's see what the situation is at the end of the season."
