Werner, traveling to face his former club Werder Bremen away from home: It's always special to return to the place where I once fought.

The 28th round of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season will take place, with RB Leipzig traveling to the Weser Stadium to challenge Werder Bremen. Facing his former team, Werder Bremen, Ole Werner stated that returning to the place where he once fought is a special experience, but he will focus on his own team.

Ole Werner, 37, previously coached Werder Bremen for a period before becoming the head coach of RB Leipzig last June.

In the last round of the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Hoffenheim at home, thanks to goals from Brajan Gruda, Baumgartner, and Henrichs. With three wins, one draw, and one loss in their last five matches, Leipzig currently sits in fourth place in the standings with 50 points, remaining firmly on track for Champions League qualification.

As for their first encounter this season, Leipzig defeated Werder Bremen 2-0 at home.

When asked about the upcoming away game against Werder Bremen, a team he previously coached, RB Leipzig coach Ole Werner said, "My personal feelings don't matter. In my experience, I only focus on my own team during the game."

"However, returning to the place where you once fought is always special. Those who want to boo will boo, and those who are happy will be happy."

Ole Werner shared, “I had a wonderful and fulfilling three and a half years in Bremen, where I felt very comfortable. As for the most memorable moment, it was undoubtedly the upgrade.”

"That was the first time I had left my hometown to coach, and I had to prove myself on a higher level. That experience really changed me. A year is a long time because a lot can happen, so it feels like a long time has passed."

In addition, when discussing the team's squad condition, Ole Werner said, "Unfortunately, Brajan Gruda had a groin problem when he returned from the U21 national team."

“He will miss the game against Werder Bremen, but I am optimistic that the situation will be different against Borussia Mönchengladbach. However, Jan Diomande is fine and can be called up at any time.”
