According to a report by Bobby Vincent, a reporter covering Chelsea for the Mirror, on Thursday, Chelsea are not currently considering loaning out their goalkeeper, Philipp Jorgensen.
To enhance his competitiveness as Denmark's number one goalkeeper, Jorgensen has begun assessing the possibility of a winter transfer: Denmark suffered a crucial 2-4 defeat to Scotland midweek, leaving them with only the European playoffs to compete for the final four World Cup spots. With Kasper Schmeichel's starting position in doubt, Jorgensen and Mas Hermansen are seen as potential replacements.
Mas Hermansen currently plays for West Ham United, but his situation is quite similar to that of Jorgensen. He has long been considered Alphonse Areola's backup goalkeeper, and his playing time has also been limited.
The 23-year-old Jorgensen came through Villarreal's youth academy and made his first-team debut in the Copa del Rey on December 15, 2021. He then made 44 appearances for Villarreal, keeping seven clean sheets.
In July 2024, Jorgensen transferred to Chelsea for €24.5 million. However, since arriving at Stamford Bridge, he has only made 28 appearances, including just 4 this season.
For Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, Jorgensen's pecking order is clearly lower than Robert Sanchez's. Nevertheless, Chelsea currently have no intention of loaning out or selling Jorgensen unless an offer significantly exceeds his transfer fee. It is widely believed within the club that Jorgensen will receive more playing time during the Christmas period and the second half of the season.
