Amadou Onana said he hopes to lead the team to a top five finish in the Premier League and give back to Aston Villa fans for their support and enthusiasm this season.
Sunday is the last match day of the Premier League this season, and Aston Villa will go to Old Trafford to challenge Manchester United. Aston Villa knows that if they want to ensure the ideal result, they not only need a victory, but also hope for good news in other stadiums.
As the season draws to a close, Amadou Onana has shown calmness and focus, with his primary goal being to help his team get all three points in a crucial match against Manchester United. When asked about the significance of returning to the Champions League, Amadou Onana said: "This is very important for us and the fans, symbolizing the team's achievements and hopes."
“The fans totally deserve this. They have stood behind us throughout the season, no matter the ups and downs. To see a team that was once a Champions League regular return to the Premier League and qualify for Europe for the third year in a row means a lot to the club as a whole.”
"We have to expect Manchester United to field their strongest team. They have a great group of players and we know their quality so we need to be fully prepared."
The match marked the end of the player's first season at Aston Villa since joining from Everton last summer. Amadou Onana scored in just four minutes of his debut against West Ham United and has contributed five goals in 33 appearances in midfield this season.
Despite occasional injuries, he is enjoying his first season at the club. Amadou Onana said: "I have developed a good connection with the fans. Villa Park is an awesome stadium for visiting teams, especially on a nice day, the atmosphere is magical."
“I’m very happy and grateful for all the experiences so far. It hasn’t been easy with a few injuries. It was a very difficult time but my family and friends always supported me and the club also actively helped me get treatment and kept in close contact.”
"Although the process was difficult, I have recovered and have performed well recently, so I am very happy. The team is in good shape as a whole, which is the most important thing."
The midfielder said after joining Aston Villa that Unai Emery was one of the key factors in his decision. He said: "He showed me things that I didn't have yet. It wasn't because I didn't have the ability, but he interpreted the game in a different way.
“He’s a senior coach, and for me he’s in the top tier, and one of the best in the business, and it’s been a real pleasure working under him.”
