Bournemouth announced on Tuesday that they had completed two signings. They first brought in Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas on loan, and then signed Vasco da Gama attacker Rayan.
According to official sources, Christos Mandas' loan spell at Bournemouth will continue until the end of the season. His loan fee is approximately £1.3 million, with an additional £860,000 required if he is not allowed to purchase the club.
Other reports indicate that Mandas' contract includes an option to buy for £16 million.
The 24-year-old Mandas came through the Atromitos youth academy and transferred to Lazio from OFI Heraklion in September 2023. To date, he has made 33 appearances for Lazio, keeping 12 clean sheets.
With the arrival of Mendas, Bournemouth welcomes their first-ever Greek player. Thiago Pinto, Bournemouth's Director of Football Operations, said: "Christos is a goalkeeper who can significantly improve the squad, and we are delighted to welcome him."
"With his experience playing for Lazio in Serie A and the Greek national team, he has demonstrated the ability to compete at the top level. We are very excited about the impact he can have. He can bring a mature and stable style to the team, while also continuing to improve his own abilities."
Mandas added, “It feels amazing to be a part of Bournemouth. I’m so proud, it’s always been my dream to be here, and I’m really happy.”
“When I learned that Bournemouth was interested in me, I knew I wanted to join them. I was deeply attracted by the wonderful atmosphere between the players and the fans, and I really liked the team’s tactical style. That’s why coming here was the right choice for me.”
The official announcement also confirmed that Mandas will wear the Bournemouth number 29 jersey.
Bournemouth's other signing is Brazilian striker Layan. According to the official announcement, the two sides have signed a five-and-a-half-year contract.
All indications suggest that Layan's transfer fee will be £24.7 million plus £5.6 million in add-ons. He will wear the number 37 shirt at Bournemouth.
The 19-year-old Rayan came through the Vasco da Gama youth academy and made his professional debut for the first team in the Rio de Janeiro State League on January 19, 2023. To date, he has made 99 appearances for Vasco da Gama, scoring 25 goals and providing 2 assists.
Regarding Layan's signing, Thiago Pinto commented: "We have been closely monitoring Layan, and he has shown a stability and maturity beyond his years."
“We believe he has tremendous potential, and Bournemouth is the perfect environment for him to continue to grow and make an impact. I am delighted that he has chosen our program and committed himself to it. We are thrilled to welcome him into our team as the club continues to improve its squad.”
Rayan said: "I am incredibly happy and honored to join Bournemouth. What attracts me most is the club's sporting development plan for me. It is a club that has nurtured many talents, so I am delighted to be here and hope to bring more joy to the fans."
