German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann announced the 26-man squad for the UEFA Nations League semi-finals. The 32-year-old striker Niclas Füllkrug has made a strong comeback and attracted much attention.
Phil Krug currently plays for the Premier League club West Ham United. Since being selected for the German national team for the first time at the age of 29, he has scored 14 goals and provided 2 assists in just 22 games, showing high efficiency.
Although Felkrug left the game early due to an Achilles tendon injury in last September's game and had to rest until last December, he still scored a goal in Germany's 5-0 victory over Hungary in the group match.
This is the first time that Felkrug has returned to the national team since recovering from injury. Germany performed well in this UEFA Nations League, remaining unbeaten in the group stage and winning the group top spot over the Netherlands, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the quarter-finals, they eliminated last year's third place Italy through a penalty shootout and successfully advanced to the semi-finals.
The German team will gather in Munich on June 3 and face Portugal in the semi-finals on June 4. If they qualify, they will compete for the UEFA Nations League title on June 8; the loser will participate in the third-place playoff on the same afternoon.
With the return and selection of Phil Krug and several shooters, the battle for the semi-final stage of the UEFA Nations League is about to ignite, and fans are expected to witness many strong confrontations.
