The Golden State Warriors announced on their official website Thursday that they have officially signed Boston Celtics legend Al Horford.

The Warriors did not disclose the length of Horford's contract or his salary, but according to former The Athletic reporter Michael Scotto, Horford has signed on a two-year, $12 million contract with a second-year option.

He will also wear the No. 20 jersey for the Golden State Warriors.

After completing his signing procedures, Horford wrote on his official Instagram account: "From the day my family and I arrived here, you welcomed me with open arms. This chapter of my life will always hold a special place in my heart."

"Raising our 18th championship banner with this city is one of the things I will always cherish in my life, and I will always be grateful to the fans and management of this team. Thank you, Boston Celtics."

About Al Horford

The 39-year-old Horford was born on June 3, 1986, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. He primarily plays center but can also play power forward. His father, Tito, is a center who formerly player for the Milwaukee Bucks and the first Dominican player in NBA history.

Horford attended high school in Michigan State. After attending the University of Florida, he led his team to two consecutive NCAA championships. In March 2007, Horford scored his 1,000th collegiate point and won the Finals MVP award for two consecutive years.

Horford was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the third overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Since then, he has also played for the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Horford, who made a splash since his debut, was named to the All-Rookie First Team in his rookie season, the All-NBA Third Team in the 2010-11 season, the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in the 2017/18 season, and won an NBA championship with the Celtics in the 2023/24 season.
