Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton talked about his injury on a show and believed that his injury was not caused by playing too many games. He also said that the injury was caused by bad luck.
In the 2024/25 NBA regular season, Tyrese Haliburton played 73 games for the Indiana Pacers, averaging 18.6 points per game, 47.3% shooting and 38.8% 3-point shooting, and was a very important member of the team.
In the finals, Tyrese Haliburton helped the Indiana Pacers win in extremely competitive games. However, in the focus of the 7th round, Tyrese Haliburton suffered a torn Achilles tendon. In the end, the Indiana Pacers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 91-103 and missed the chance to win the NBA championship.
“I feel like every time a player gets hurt, especially when it happens so frequently, someone comes out and says they know why and that it’s because of playing too many games and playing too many minutes,” said Tyrese Haliburton, 25. “And there may be some truth to that, but I don’t think that’s the primary cause of these injuries.”
"So I think there's no real answer to that, sometimes injuries are just bad luck, that's what happens in sports."
In addition, after the fifth round of the finals, Haliburton suffered a calf strain, but he was still able to play in the sixth round.
Looking back on the injury process, Tyrese Haliburton said, "After the sixth game, I felt that I was fine. I thought I could hold on with adrenaline. In the seventh game, I didn't feel any problems and felt that I was in good shape, so I started very well. But in the end, that happened."
As for how to make good use of this recovery time, Tyrese Haliburton said, "I hope to use this time to continue to improve my understanding of the game, communicate more with coach Rick Carlisle and participate in coaching staff meetings, and communicate more with president Kevin Pritchard."
"I think I have a good understanding of basketball, so I hope to help the team as much as I can. As soon as I can walk, I will sit on the bench."
