Brentford manager Keith Andrews expressed satisfaction with the progress of his side's pre-season training in Portugal and commented on their performance in the 1-1 draw with Givisent.
This trip to Portugal is Brentford's one-week pre-season preparation. The training base is located at the Portuguese National Football Center (Cidade do Futebol). The match against Givisent is the only warm-up match arranged during this training camp.
In the post-match interview, Andrews said: "I am very satisfied with the overall situation. This week's training was centered around this game. We originally planned to have most of the players play 45 minutes each in the first and second half."
Andrews pointed out that the senior players played in the first half, and although some details still need to be improved, this is a normal process in the pre-season. The start of the second half was a bit passive, but the performance of controlling the situation in the second half was encouraging.
During the game, Brazilian teenager Gustavo Nunes was substituted due to hamstring discomfort, which aroused the concern of the coaching staff. Andrews said: "He ended his vacation early to prepare for the pre-season, but he didn't expect to get injured."
"After suffering from repeated injuries last season, we hope this time it won't be too serious because he is indeed a player with great potential."
Andrews spoke highly of the overall training camp: "I really enjoy this time. We were here last year, and the familiar facilities and environment make the entire training atmosphere more focused and effective. We constantly challenge the players, while also giving them proper rest and recovery space, such as the holiday arrangement on Saturday."
