Inter Miami announced on its official website Thursday that the club has renewed its contract with its legendary Argentina international forward Leo Messi.
According to Inter Miami's official statement, Messi has signed on a new three-year contract which runs until the winter of 2028.
After completing his contract extension procedures, Messi, who was interviewed by the Inter Miami official website again, said: "I'm so happy to be here and continue this project. This is not just a dream, but a beautiful reality – playing at Miami Freedom Park. I've been so happy since I arrived in Miami, so I'm really happy to continue playing here."
"We're all really looking forward to the moment when we can finally play at Miami Freedom Park. We can't wait to see it completed – to experience it from the inside in our new home and for the fans to enjoy. Playing at home in such a spectacular stadium will be something very special."
This contract extension officially puts to rest rumours claiming that Messi will return to Barcelona next summer.
Since becoming a member of Inter Miami, so far, Messi has played 82 times for the Major League Soccer (MLS) club in all competitions, scoring 71 goals and providing 37 assists. During which he has won the Leagues Cup once and the MLS Supporters' Shield once with the club.
