Ipswich Town sign Ashley Young on a one-year contract

Ipswich Town Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Ashley Young, an experienced winger who has previously played for Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Aston Villa and Everton, on a one-year contract.

Ashley Young has played 750 times for major clubs in his career so far, contributing 88 goals. During his time at Manchester United, he won important honors such as the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.

In addition, he also shined in Serie A and helped Inter Milan win the league championship. Today, Ashley Young is capable of playing multiple positions, including winger and full-back, and has rich game experience and tactical adaptability.

Ashley Young made his England debut against Austria in November 2007, and has played 39 times for the national team in his career, scoring 7 goals. In the past two seasons, Ashley Young played for Everton and made 32 appearances in the 2024-25 season, mainly as a right back. His versatility, rich experience and stable performance have injected important strength into the team.

Head coach Kieran McKenna said in an interview with the club: "Ashley Young has had an impressive career and the honors he has achieved speak for themselves. He has always shown a high level of professionalism and competitiveness and is still in good competitive form."

"We believe that Ashley Young's leadership and rich experience will bring great value to the team in the new season. He hopes to have an impact both on the field and in the locker room. This is a very meaningful signing for the club and the entire team."

Ashley Young came from Watford's youth training system and made his first-team debut in 2003. At the end of the 2005-06 season, he helped the team successfully advance to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs, showing great potential in the early stages.

In the middle of the following season, Ashley Young moved to Aston Villa, becoming the club's record signing at the time, and played nearly 200 games for the team at Villa Park.

In 2011, Ashley Young officially transferred to Manchester United. During his time at Manchester United, he made 261 appearances for the team and won the 2012-13 Premier League, the 2015-16 FA Cup, and the 2016-17 League Cup and Europa League.

After playing for Inter Milan for 18 months, Ashley Young won the 2020-21 Serie A championship with the team, becoming the third English player to win the honor. In the summer of 2021, he returned to the English arena, first playing for Aston Villa and then moving to Everton in 2023.

Internationally, Ashley Young has represented England at two major tournaments, the 2012 European Championships in Ukraine and Poland, and the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He made five appearances in the 2018 World Cup and was a key member of the team that reached the semi-finals.
