A shocking and heartbreaking incident occurred in international football. Liverpool striker Jota died in a car accident at the age of 28. Jota's 26-year-old brother Andre Silva, who was in the same car with him, also died. Former Liverpool coach Klopp posted on his personal social media that he was extremely heartbroken by the player's death.
Jota from Portugal joined Liverpool in September 2020. During his career, he played 182 games for Liverpool and contributed 65 goals.
Although Jota missed many games in the 2024/25 Premier League due to injury, he still contributed 6 goals and 3 assists to the "Red Army" with his outstanding performance, and was one of the important contributors to Liverpool's Premier League championship. What's more regrettable is that Jota just got married to his partner two weeks ago.
Klopp, the former Liverpool manager who coached Jota for many years, said, "It's hard for me to accept it at this moment. There may be a greater purpose behind this, but I can't see it. I am heartbroken to learn of the death of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva."
"Diogo Jota was not only an excellent player, but also a good friend, a husband and a father who loved his family deeply. We will miss you terribly."
"All my prayers, thoughts and strength go to Rut, the children, his family, friends and all who loved them. Rest in peace, love Jurgen."
