After making over 300 appearances for Liverpool, 32-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker is still not satisfied with the status quo.
In an interview, Becker emphasized that he is constantly striving to improve all aspects of his abilities to maintain his top level and always have a decisive impact on the team. Becker said: "As a goalkeeper, first of all, you need good positioning, speed, agility and strength."
"In the Premier League, you have to deal with set pieces, have good timing, be able to attack outside the box and be able to use your feet. All these qualities are equally important. I have been working hard to make up for my shortcomings because we are facing top players in the Premier League and the Champions League and I have to be ready to make changes for the team at any time."
Becker joined Liverpool from Roma in the summer of 2018 and is now in his eighth season at Anfield. He has won seven major honours with the club, including two Premier League titles, and continued their perfect start to the 2025-26 season with a clean sheet against Arsenal.
In addition to his consistent shot-saving skills, Becker is also known for his unique offensive involvement. He is the only goalkeeper in Liverpool's history to have scored a goal and has assisted Mohamed Salah three times. Speaking about his assists, Becker said, "The chemistry between Mohamed and I comes from working together over the years."
"I know his movement and he knows I can play the ball through. When I get the ball into the right place, he can do what he does best, score. You can see from the celebration that we really enjoy this kind of cooperation, which is the fun of football."
As a key cog in Liverpool's title defence, Becker has demonstrated the responsibility of a top goalkeeper through his actions and attitude. His goal is clear: continuous improvement, constant preparation, and always making the difference for Liverpool in crucial moments.
