Mallorca announced on its official website on Saturday that the club has renewed the contract of its Spanish right-back Mateu Morey.

According to Mallorca's official statement, Morey has signed on a new short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Morey, who was interviewed by Mallorca's official website again, said: "I am very happy. I am very proud to renew my contract. I feel very good throughout the season. For me, it has been great, fruitful and has made me progress rapidly. I am very happy."

"It feels great to be able to play, look up at the sky, be with my family and friends, and fortunately we can continue to enjoy this feeling."

"I am getting better and better. As time goes by, I feel very good and my body responds. I want to thank everyone who has helped me, accompanied me, and made this season so smooth."

About Mateu Morey

The 25-year-old Morey was born on March 2, 2000 in Mallorca, Spain. He is 1.73 meters tall and plays as a right back.

Morey played for the youth academy of non-league clubs Petra and Manacor when he was a child. In 2014, he joined Mallorca's youth academy and moved to Barcelona's famous La Masia youth academy the following year. During this spell, he helped the Barcelona youth team win the UEFA Youth League once.

After leaving the club when his contract expired in the summer of 2019, Morey joined Borussia Dortmund as a free agent. At first, he played for its reserve team, before completing his Dortmund first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in May 2020.

During his five-year spell with BVB, Morey won the DFB-Pokal once with the club.

After leaving the club when his contract expired in July 2024, Morey returned to Mallorca as a free agent.

This season, Morey played 17 times for the La Liga club in all competitions, without scoring any goals or making any assists.
