Matty Sifuentes admitted his team's performance was poor in their 1-3 defeat to Sheffield United. He pointed to a lack of consistency as the main problem currently plaguing the team, just three days after their victory over Derby County in South Yorkshire.
After the match, Matti Sifuentes said: "First of all, I want to apologize to the fans because our performance was disappointing and not what we expected after our previous home win. It was a completely unsatisfactory game."
"Our performance lacked consistency, which is why we failed to win the game. We knew Sheffield United would be using a two-striker formation and a diamond pressing tactic, so we had to be solid in our attacking organization and create more opportunities to win the ball back."
“I think our attacking performance was very poor. Considering the number of mistakes we made, including unforced errors and individual mistakes, which led to three goals conceded, we can’t explain why we played so poorly, but if we can’t maintain consistency in every game, the team will face great difficulties.”
Young players Jeremy Munga and Luis Page came on as substitutes in the second half. Meanwhile, the team is monitoring the recovery of several injured players and awaiting updates on when they will be able to return to the field.
The Leicester City manager added: "They showed the necessary character and worked hard to maintain possession. They pressed high up the pitch, were able to dribble past opponents and engage in one-on-one duels, and they were excellent."
“We will continue to monitor the players’ condition over the next few days and conduct assessments with the medical team. Some players are recovering well, and we will be watching to see if they are able to participate in the next game. Undoubtedly, we also need more support because the team currently has some injured players, and we hope to get some of them back on the field as soon as possible.”
“It is my responsibility to ensure that similar situations do not happen again, and we are working hard on behalf of the club and the fans to address these issues. But we must admit that we haven’t done enough and have failed to achieve a winning streak. We need to learn from today’s lessons and continue to improve during this crucial stage of the season. Hopefully, we can regroup and deliver a better performance in front of the fans.”
