Hull City defeated Leicester City 2-1 on Humberside. After the game, manager Matti Cifuentes admitted that the team's performance in the first half did not meet expectations and ultimately failed to overturn the disadvantage.  

Lewis Miller and Joe Gelhardt scored in the first half, giving the hosts a commanding lead at the MKM Stadium. Despite a second-half performance from Leicester City, they were unable to convert the lead and ultimately suffered a bitter defeat.  

After the game, head coach Marty Cifuentes said: "We took on too much pressure in the second half and conceded two goals within half an hour of the start of the game. This is our first defeat in nine games and we are currently eighth in the Sky Bet Champions League standings."  

"I feel very angry and as a coach, I take full responsibility. The team's overall performance, especially in the first half, did not meet our standards. The performance in the early stages was not good and the way we conceded two goals was unacceptable."  

"We didn't perform well in the first half and were far from our best. In the second half, the team made some adjustments and our performance improved. Some details could have been handled better and perhaps earned us a point. However, I must criticize myself as we should have performed better."  

"We responded but our overall performance wasn't up to par as a team. We should have shown more resilience after conceding two goals. I'm disappointed that the rotation changes we made this week didn't produce the desired results."  

“I need to reflect on why the team failed to achieve the expected results in the game. Although the team had a good position in the first half, created many chances and implemented high counter-pressing, it left the opponent with too many counterattack opportunities, which may be the main reason for the poor performance in the first half.”  

"The first goal we conceded showed that we had a problem with our positioning. We were too high up the pitch and that affected our counter-pressing. We should have been able to win the ball back high up the pitch, but we didn't."  

"The team was too passive in the game and our defensive positioning was poor, which allowed the opponent a lot of space for transitions. We were not aggressive enough in chasing back when dealing with such situations. This involves both the players' mentality and a problem in tactical execution, which I will analyze in depth."  

"We need to reflect on the quality we showed in games where we had little advantage. In a high-intensity environment like the Champions League, any detail can determine the outcome of a game. Ultimately, we must improve our performance."  

"We had 12 shots in the second half and only converted one goal. We need to create more scoring chances, get to 20 to 25 shots, and increase the number of goals by whatever means. This is something I need to address as a head coach, rather than focusing on factors that are out of my control."
