GOAL's resident renowned English Liverpool team correspondent Neil Jones, reported on Sunday that Liverpool has changed its mind and accepted Bayern Munich's offer for its Colombia international winger Luis Díaz.

According to Jones' report, Liverpool was actually still reluctant to sell Díaz this summer, but the player's agent kept forcing the palace into a difficult stance regarding his contract extension issues, which led to a change in the relationship between Díaz's agent and Sporting Director Richard Hughes.

Liverpool has indeed been trying to renew Díaz's contract since the end of May, but the player and his agent have always insisted that the new wages offered by the club is far less than what they expected, which has caused a rift.

It is reported that Díaz and his agent also refused to negotiate with the Reds twice for this.

In order to show his authority, head coach Arne Slot deliberately excluded Díaz from the players' list in Liverpool's 4-2 loss to AC Milan at Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong on Saturday night.

Currently, although he will still go to Japan with the team to prepare for the club's pre-season friendly match against Yokohama F. Marinos, and will still participate in training sessions and promotional activities as usual, Díaz is not expected to get the opportunity to play for the Reds again before his transfer saga ends.

Jones revealed that Liverpool is currently planning to accept Bayern Munich's €75 million, but the two sides have not yet reached an agreement on potential additional fees.

The Reds had also authorized Díaz to negotiate personal terms with the Bundesliga defending champions.

Once Díaz's transfer is completed, Liverpool is expected to fully restart their plans to buy Newcastle United center forward Alexander Isak, who has also expressed his tough stance that he will not transfer except to Liverpool.

As one of the chain reactions of this transfer, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško will become one of the players that Newcastle United is fully pursuing.

Since Díaz has a great influence in the team, his departure will inevitably cause reluctance among fans and teammates, but it also happens to provide Hugo Ekitike with an opportunity to prove that he can replace the former well.

Luis Díaz, 28, was born on January 13, 1997 in Barrancas, Colombia. He plays as a left winger. His younger brother Jesus currently plays for Barranquilla.

Díaz started playing football at the age of 6. Later, he joined the Barranquilla youth academy at the age of 17. In 2015, he was called-up to the Colombia U23s national team before he was even promoted to the first-team.

In July 2017, Díaz moved to Atlético Junior for €70,000.

During his two-year spell with Atlético Junior, Díaz won the Colombian League twice, the Colombian Cup twice, and the Colombian Super Cup once.

In the summer of 2019, Díaz joined Porto for €7 million and began plying his trade in Europe.

During his three-and-a half-year spell with Dragões, Diaz led the club to win the Portuguese Primeira Liga twice, the Taça da Portugal twice and the Portuguese Super Cup once.

On the 2022 winter transfer window deadline day, Díaz joined Liverpool for £45 million.

Since becoming a member of the Reds, Díaz has played 148 times for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists. During which, he has won the Carabao Cup twice, the Premier League once, the English FA Cup once, the English Community Shield once, and reached the Champions League final once.
