On September 20th, according to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto, the Boston Celtics recently signed free agent forward Kendall Brown to increase competition for the upcoming training camp. Sources said that this contract is likely to be an Exhibit 10 agreement, and Brown will use this opportunity to strive for a two-way contract.
Brown played in the Brooklyn Nets system last year, playing as a two-way player for the Long Island Nets of the Development League, but he didn't see any NBA playing time. Prior to that, he spent two seasons with the Indiana Pacers, appearing in 21 games, averaging 1.4 points , 0.5 rebounds, and 4.9 minutes per game while shooting 54.5% from the field .
Compared to his NBA career, Brown has shown a more comprehensive performance in the G League. He played in 54 games, averaging 15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. He shot 54.5% from the field and 37.7% from three-point range , demonstrating impressive offensive and defensive potential.
The Celtics currently have only 12 standard contracts, and the contracts of Nemyas Queta and Jordan Walsh are not yet fully guaranteed, leaving room for roster adjustments. Considering the team's summer trades of Kristaps Porzingis and Kevin Kornet, the center position is a concern. Rookie Williams could potentially enter the rotation, creating more opportunities for Brown and others.
