Liverpool right-winger Mohamed Salah named Football Writers' Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year..


Liverpool announced on its official website on Friday that the team's Egypt international right-winger Mohamed Salah was named the Football Writers' Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year for the 2024/25 season.


According to Liverpool's official statement, a total of 918 journalists from all over the UK participated in the vote, and Salah received 90% of the votes, making him the player with the highest votes this century.


His teammate Virgil van Dijk, Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and Arsenal defensive midfielder Declan Rice won the second, third and fourth places respectively.


Salah will be invited to the Football Writers' Association (FWA) dinner this month to personally receive the award and give a speech.


Regarding Salah's selection, John Cross, chairman of the Football Writers' Association (FWA), said: "Rarely has there been few winners more popular than Mohamed. His overwhelming victory just reflects his brilliant season.


"He keeps breaking records, and his performance this season is obviously the key to Liverpool's 20th title. ”

It is worth mentioning that this will be the third time Salah has been named after 2018 and 2022, which also makes him tied with former Arsenal and France legendary international striker Thierry Henry as the player who has won the FWA Footballer of the Year the most times in the history.

The 32-year-old Salah, nicknamed "The Pharaoh" or "Egyptian King", was born on June 15, 1992 in Nagrig, Basyoun, Western Province, Egypt. He is 1.75 meters tall and primarily plays as a right winger, but can also play as a center forward.
