On Thursday local time, Atletico Madrid officially announced that it had completed the contract extension with Pablo Barrios. According to the statement, the new contract was extended from the original 2028 to June 30, 2030.

The 21-year-old Pablo Barrios mainly plays as a central midfielder, but can also play as a defensive midfielder, left midfielder, etc. As a native of Madrid, he was trained in the Real Madrid youth training in his early years and officially transferred to Atletico Madrid U18 in 2017.

On October 29, 2022, Barrios made his first-team debut for Atletico Madrid in the La Liga match against Cadiz. To date, he has made 101 appearances for Atletico Madrid, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists, and is regarded as one of the team's regular starters.
