Rodrigo Gomez was in high spirits after returning from injury, scoring in Wolves' 6-1 FA Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town at Molineux Stadium. The Portuguese winger, who had been sidelined since undergoing groin surgery last October, came on as a substitute and scored the team's fifth goal, sealing a positive end to the match.  

Although Rodrigo Gomez admitted that the past few months of being unable to contribute to the team due to injury have been agonizing, he is eager to get back into the game, make up for the time he missed, and help Wolves continue their strong start to 2026.  

Speaking about scoring in his first game back from injury, Rodrigo Gómez said, "It was a very exciting counter-attack, and the goal was beautifully executed. After Fer's shot hit the post, Tolu Arrocodare passed the ball to me inside the penalty area, and I reacted quickly to score. I felt incredibly happy when I saw the ball go in."  

"It was a convincing and fantastic victory. We scored six goals, and it was my first game back from injury. The injury and surgery were a very difficult experience for me, and it wasn't easy, but the medical team did everything they could to help me recover. They always gave me encouragement and support, helping me get back on the field. This return is incredible, and we scored, so I'm very happy, but we still need to keep working hard."
