Sassuolo announced on their official website on Monday that they have extended the contract of its Bosnia international center-back Tarik Muharemović.
According to Sassuolo's official statement, Muharemović has signed on a new long-term six-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.
After completing his contract extension procedures, Muharemović, who was interviewed by the Sassuolo official website again, said: "I am very happy to extend my contract with Sassuolo. This club has had high hopes for me since the first day I joined. I want to thank my family, my agent, the club for their trust, and the whole team for their support."
"My goal this season is to achieve the goals we set at the beginning of the season. At the same time, I personally hope to continue to improve and grow into a better player. Sassuolo is home to me. About Tarik Muharemović
The 22-year-old Muharemović was born on February 28, 2003, in Ljubljana, the captial of Slovenia. He is 1.82 meters tall and plays as a center-back. His younger brother, Kenan, is a Bosnia U19s international center-back who currently plays for Rapid Vienna.
Muharemović joined the youth academy of Austria Klagenfurt at the age of 6. In 2019, he moved to the Wolfsberger youth academy and completed his Wolfsberger first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in a match against Red Bull Salzburg in April 2021.
In August of the same year, Muharemović joined Juventus as a free agent.
However, during his three-year spell with Juventus, Muharemović only played for their U23s team in the Serie C.
In August 2024, Muharemović was loaned-out to Sassuolo. His ownership was subsequently permanently bought out in April of this year.
Since becoming a member of I Neroverdi, Muharemović has made 38 appearances for the newly promoted Serie A club in all competitions so far, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists, winning the Serie B title once with the club.
