Kyle Walker said on Tuesday that he currently has no plans to retire.

Earlier this month, 35-year-old Walker announced his retirement from the England national team. During his 15-year international career, he helped the team reach the European Championship final twice (2021, 2024) and reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

However, Walker is not yet ready to end his professional career. In the latest episode of the football blog show "The Overlap," he confessed to host Gary Neville: "I don't know how many more years I can play. I feel that once the thought of 'it's time to end' pops into my head, I have to be true to myself. Leave football before it abandons me."

“I will turn 36 in May, but I feel great. However, I can assure you that the recovery will definitely take longer.”

“I may have to take on more defensive duties now than at any other time in my career, but I feel good. For me, it’s more of a mental challenge. As long as I can keep going, I have to keep battling with myself mentally.”

“I don’t want to tarnish what I’ve achieved, but I also have my own dignity. I will end my career in my own way.”

"I won't let outside noise affect my plans as a player, because a professional career is quite short."

So far this season, Walker has made 28 appearances for Burnley and provided 2 assists. Despite wearing the burgundy jersey, he has never hidden his longing for Sheffield United.

As a product of Sheffield United's youth academy, Walker had made 35 appearances for the club before leaving at the age of 19. He made it clear to Gary Neville: "I hope to play for a few more years. Returning to Sheffield United has always been my dream. From the age of 6 until I left at 19, I had many wonderful years at Sheffield United."

“I hope to play for Sheffield United again,” he emphasized again. “I don’t know when that will be. I don’t know if they still want me.”
