Premier League giants Liverpool defeated Yokohama F. Marinos 3-1 in a friendly at the Nissan Stadium, thanks to goals from Wirtz, Tre Nyoni, and Ngumoha. Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo described returning to Japan as an incredible and unforgettable moment for him, as a Liverpool player.

In the 55th minute, Kato Ren passed the ball into the penalty area, and Uenaka Asahi shot in, helping Yokohama F. Marinos take the lead 1-0. In the 60th minute, Liverpool replaced Van Dijk with Endo Wataru, who also gave Endo the captain's armband.

In the 62nd minute, Salah passed the ball back from the penalty area, and after the ball touched Jones, Wirtz pushed the ball into the goal, helping Liverpool to tie the score at 1-1. In the 68th minute, Frimpong made a lob pass, and Tre Nyoni volleyed the ball into the goal, helping Liverpool to overtake Yokohama F. Marinos 2-1.

In the 87th minute, Ngumoha received a pass from Robertson and ran into the penalty area before scoring with a long shot, helping Liverpool extend their lead to 3-1. In the end, Liverpool defeated Yokohama F. Marinos 3-1 in this friendly match.

"This is a fantastic moment for me," said Endo, who won the Premier League title with Liverpool in the 2024/25 season. "It means so much to me to be able to return to Japan as a Liverpool player. This is an incredible moment."

Talking about teammate Virgil van Dijk wearing the captain's armband for him, Endo shared, "I'm really grateful to coach Slot and Virgil van Dijk for everything they've done for me. It's a great gesture, and I think all the Japanese people probably want me to be captain. My family also came to watch the game, and I think they must be very excited. I'm very happy to have them here, and they're very happy too."

“Yokohama F. Marinos are in the middle of the season so they are in very good form. They played well, especially in the first half. It was not easy for us to beat them, but we had to show we are Liverpool and we are the Premier League champions, and I am very happy with the result.”

Endo also said, "I am actually a fan of this club. I came for a trial but failed to join. Now I am back as a Liverpool player. This is really a dream come true."
